The agro-food sector of the Consorzio Agrario di Siena currently includes eighteen shops, three butchers, two of which (and Siena Bettolle) exclusively with IGP Chianina meat from local farms, two agricultural companies conducted directly (San Piero in the "Chianti Classico" and Ferraiolo in the "chianti Colli Senesi"), an oil mill which is also in the "chianti Classico" a Enopolio cellar with bottling center of Poggibonsi. The Consortium for the supply of its own network of stores, is aimed mainly to its members and customers of Siena and Arezzo area, as sheep farmers who produce cheese in the Crete Senesi or in Val d'Orcia, pig farmers who produce sausages with traditional methods, fruit and vegetable producers of the Chiana Valley and the like. The outlets of the Consortium participating in the "Shops of Campagna Amica" project promoted by Coldiretti on a national scale for the enhancement of the Italian agricultural sector.
The Consortium is the promoter of the project "Pasta of Farmers Toscani" a paste of quality durum wheat, realized - with traceability system - from wheat grown exclusively in the territory of the provinces of Siena and Arezzo, whose industrial stages (production of semolina and pasta) are entirely made in Tuscany.
For several years he has discovered and developed the ancient varieties of bread "Verna" grain creating a "Verna bread" (sourdough, stone ground) and "Verna Beer" (raw beer, re-fermented in the bottle) that have had significant success for their uniqueness.
