A new green space to start again, to give the children and the whole community a place to have fun, walk, meet and hope again: the Parco del Serafino, the urban park of Sarnano, one of the countries hit by the earthquake in central Italy.
Between August and November 2016 the earthquake has brought to its knees many municipalities of the Umbria-Marche Apennines, including Sarnano, in the province of Macerata, causing serious damage not only to homes and facilities, but also to the minds of the populations residents.
To give his fellow citizens a new incentive to start over, Giuseppe Vallesi, owner of Vallesi srl, a Sarnano company that deals with the sale of forestry and gardening machinery, has promoted a project that wants to offer a new hope in the future : the creation of an urban park.
The collaboration between the Municipality, a committee set up ad hoc and baptized "Little hands will do great things", with the certainty that today's children will become the architects of great things for their country, Fercad spa and Giuseppe Vallesi has allowed 'work less than two years after the earthquake. The Parco del Serafino was inaugurated on 10th August.
At the ribbon cutting ceremony Fercad Spa (Husqvarna) was represented by Vittorio Ferraretto, a member of the property.
"The urban park has become the symbol of the possibility of starting again - explains Giuseppe Vallesi - This path is a combination of emotion, satisfaction and gratitude towards all those who have made it possible. Seeing the children playing, their families, seeing them smiling makes us think that this initiative has had enormous value that goes far beyond all expectations ".
Adds the mayor of Sarnano, Franco Cerigioli: "Once the redevelopment of the 'bambinopoli' and the ramp from Piazza della Libertà has been completed, the urban park will finally have its complete definition: from the Piazza to Villa Irene, between areas with games for children and boys, multipurpose spaces, picnic area, sports facilities, new schools, all interconnected without traffic interference and without architectural barriers. A dream that comes true ".
