The first edition of Milano Green Week will take place at the end of September, an event organized by the municipality together with all those who collaborate in the management and care of urban green areas, including citizens. With this appointment Milan intends to reaffirm its commitment as a "green" city. During the presentation of the program, the numbers on the Milanese arboreal heritage were also disseminated, which has grown in recent months with 15 thousand new trees planted since November 2017.
There are 14,891 new trees planted in Milan between November and April. It is the budget of the planting plan of the agronomic season 2017/2018, which enriches the heritage of about 465 thousand specimens between trees (about 243 thousand) and plants in wooded areas.
The first edition of the event was conceived in the wake of the success of the three editions of Green City Milano: a call was opened for citizens, associations, committees and companies with the aim of transforming open spaces and green areas, gardens and parks, large or small, public or private, in places of sharing, of projects, of laboratories, of meeting, of inclusion and of celebration.
"From the Library of the Trees, to the parks of City Life and the Hadrian Quarter, in Milan the green continues to grow - underlines the councilor for Urbanism, Green and Agriculture Pierfrancesco Maran - But it will do even more in the coming years; we think of the parks that will be born thanks to the redevelopment of railways or those planned within urban interventions such as the one planned in Bisceglie. This is why we need citizens to be increasingly involved in the care of green areas, including trees ".
The administration is already working on the Plan for Plantations 2018/19. Citizens can contribute to its definition by reporting green areas with little presence of trees or green areas bordering roads writing to firstname.lastname@example.org
