New President for Agrofarma-Federchimica

During the annual meeting of Agrofarma-Federchimica, the new president of the association was elected: this is Alberto Ancora, manager of Basf Italia. He will take over Andrea Barella, who has held this position for the last six years.
"I take this opportunity - said the new president - to reiterate our full openness to the dialogue on innovation and sustainability in agriculture, to defend the progress of the industry and to think about the evolution of the chain. In this sense, I will strive to continue to support a clear and transparent dialogue path with institutions, the media and the public, to think about the meaning of sustainability and to give the right recognition to the role of agro-medicines. "
Alberto Ancora, 51, became the Head of Business Management Crop Protection South Europe of Basf Italia in 2015 after having served as Country Manager for the Agro Division. Leccese and training agronomist, began his career with several roles of responsibility at other agrochemical multinationals and then joined Basf in 2001.
Agrofarma companies account for 95% of Italy's total turnover, which is around 978 million euros, accounting for about 1.9% of total chemical sales in Italy. The sector invests 6% of its turnover in research and development, and the research staff account for about 12% of the total industry.
