Countdown to Todi Fiorita: the splendid Piazza del Popolo and the medieval glimpses of the Umbrian town are ready to welcome from Friday 17 to Sunday 19 May, over 50 exhibitors from all over the highly selected boot, in which to find the best of nursery gardening, together with exhibitions, workshops, entertainment, conferences, strictly with a green theme.
An event aimed at enthusiasts of the sector and beyond, now in its 12th edition, which, like every year, proposes a theme. This year at the center of the Umbrian event will be the circular economy.
The objective of the organizers, Associazione Verde Todi, with the support of the municipality of Todi, is to raise awareness and bring the public closer to the issues of innovation and recycling, presenting virtuous cases linked to economic circularity and environmental regeneration.
It starts on Friday 17th with art. At 4.00 pm the "Todi, Art and Solidarity" art exhibition will be inaugurated at the Caffè del Teatro Comunale, a collective exhibition promoted by the LIONS Club of Todi by painters Giampiero Petruccioli, Giancarlo Biagini, Donatella Regi Canali and Antonella Padovani. At the same time, the second edition of the graphic, pictorial and photographic competition "Immagina TodiFiorita" organized by ETAB di Todi will begin. On Saturday morning the students of the Cocchi Middle School will be engaged in the impromptu painting "When the flowers become a work of art", which will see the boys in the guise of en plein air painters located in the streets and squares of the city, making paintings with views of the views and landscapes of Todi Fiorita.
From 10 am the panel of speakers dedicated to the circular economy will take place at the Council Hall.
Speakers will include Dino Di Cicco, President of the first International Association of Waste Managers, which explores the issues of eco-sustainable development and the green economy, and Alessandra De Santis, coordinator of the Atlas of Circular Economy, the first atlas that gathers the best experiences of circular economy in Italy. There will also be Umbrian examples of the circular economy. The managers of the Basalti Orvieto company will be present, creators of a process of natural circularity, starting from the extraction of natural material, up to the regeneration of the environment through actions of agricultural bioengineering and Dino Mengucci, founder of Panta Rei, cooperative of Passignano sul Trasimeno, operating in the field of green building and training, an activity that led the association to win the competition "Stories of circular economy".
Saturday afternoon is designed for children, with the “Il gioco dell'ecosistema” laboratory, held by environmental education expert Antonella Zanotti from 4.00 pm in Piazza Garibaldi.
The day will be closed with a Federico Codini Trio concert.
Workshops continue on Sunday. At 10.30am Magda Montanucci presents her "Olfactory Laboratory", promoted by the FAI of Todi. At 4.00 pm in Piazza del Popolo Sara Primieri will teach everyone how to make wonderful wreaths and flower wreaths in the "Intrecci floral" workshop.
It closes at 5.30 pm in the sign of the circular economy with the “RigaArt” fashion show that will transform the Scalinata del Duomo into a catwalk on which clothes made with recycled materials will parade.
There will also be superb floral scenes, which have now become the distinctive feature of Todi Fiorita, which will embellish the historic buildings, squares, evocative alleys and monuments of the Umbrian town, which for the occasion will be transformed into a lush flower garden Instagram -friendly.
But this year there is an important novelty, Todi Fiorita will share the wonderful setting with Beverly Pepper and her Todi Columns.
The majestic columns, the stands and the fittings will be able to blend and enhance each other in the unique setting of Piazza del Popolo, in a cosmic afflato extolling nature.
